Tiffany & Co. has joined with the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund for a three-year partnership with a $1 million gift. As part of their commitment, a one-time $250,000 business development grant will be awarded to a CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund jewelry designer alumna who best demonstrates his/her ability to develop their designs as an independent entity.
Recognizing the important influence jewelry design has on fashion and the challenges faced in creating and producing a quality collection, the special “Tiffany & Co.” grant supports the designer based on current need.
“As a leader in the jewelry industry, it is important to us that the next generation of talented jewelry designers is able to succeed in the face of the many business challenges they face,” said Michael J. Kowalski, Tiffany & Co. Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. “Partnering with the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund, this grant is intended to continue to develop jewelry as an important field of design.”
“The number of talented jewelry designers who have been finalists and winners in the Fashion Fund has not gone unnoticed,” said Steven Kolb, CFDA Executive Director. “In meeting with them it is clear they have a unique set of challenges unlike others in the industry. Tiffany’s support will bring significant resources to one worthy recipient to help them advance their business and grow their potential.”
Applications have been sent to the nine jewelry designers who have participated in the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund since its inaugural year in 2004. Applicants must submit information on their creative vision for their brand and current collection, as well as a portfolio and financial information, including intended use for the grant were they to win.
Submissions will be reviewed by a committee that includes Mike Kowalski, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Tiffany & Co.; Anna Wintour, Editor in Chief of Vogue; Filipa Fino, Senior Accessories Editor of Vogue; and Steven Kolb, Executive Director of CFDA.
Applications for the grant are being accepted through July 8. The winner will be announced this summer.
